E.U. Plans to Make USB-C Ports Standard for All Mobile Devices

The European Union announced plans to make USB-C connectors standard for all smartphones to reduce environmental waste and make switching between devices simpler. This initiative is likely to affect Apple the hardest.

It’s not at all against innovation, by the way, it’s not against anyone. It is just like everything we do. And like everything I do as a commissioner and everything we do in commission, it’s for the consumers and for other European consumers. It is not against anyone and I think it’s, it’s extremely important to understand that. And by the way, if of course, Apple wants to continue to have their own, jack — we love, we love the ability to do it — there is nothing against again innovation just to make the life of our fellow citizens a little bit more easy, and not to depend, if they want to change also, on one supplier versus another.
